Ideas – Adults

This page will be devoted to general or specific ideas of what we want to do and how to make it actually do-able. (This is where you all need to jump in with ideas!!)

  1. I would like to see a correlation between mini-mental scores and ability to effectively use adaptive equipment. I think it would be easiest to do after an orthopedic surgery, and you could also look at whether elective replacements fared better than those forced by trauma. I think this would actually be best done at small hospitals where the same OT could be guaranteed to see each pt twice and would be seeing the majority of the pts.

Also, I have been following the news coming out about the Test Your Memory quiz to better diagnose Alzheimer’s disease compared to the mini-mental, but I think that the language and some of the skills aren’t suited for a US geriatric population. I would like to see if that test could be adapted for different cultures and some evaluation done on the tool.
